Happy Frickin New Year

The Lions just beat the Cowboys and I am at work. Hope your New Year's Eve isn't sucking like mine.

Hopefully this is not precursor to 2007.

Leaving a mark

Went to Geno's East in Chicago while we were on vacation. They let you write on the walls. I left my usual signature.

Hello Poland

Shout out to my brother Brian and his family in Wroclaw. It sucks to not have them here for the holidays but it was great to hear from them today.

Have some potato vodka for us. Looking forward to a visit this year.

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

Sometimes working in newspapers stinks. The paper comes out everyday, so I will be working on Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

With that in mind, we celebrated the holidays early. We spent the a few days in Naperville, with my sister's family and then went into Chicago for a long, but fun, day. Spent the morning shopping, went the Shedd Aquarium in the afternoon and then saw Wicked that evening. Very cool.

We spent the last couple of days in Ohio. Since Erin seems to have come down with a wicked virus, I went and visted her family and friends while she slept.

Hope everyone is having a merry and a bright.

Congrats and all that

To Mike and Becky "Rebecca" Hudson, on their pending new arrival. Suggestions for names include Heath for boy and Heather for a girl.

Lacy suggests Mateen Izzo Hudson.

Will the president listen?

So Mr. Bush put together panel to try and figure out what to do about the war in Iraq. The bipartisan commission released its report today and, shockingly, agreed Bush is screwing up. They offered some suggestions, including troop withdrawl beginning in 2008. Bush asked for the recommendations. Now will he follow them?

Bowl season

Great job by the BCS picking Florida to face Ohio State in the national championship game. The Gators played a tougher schedule than Michigan. Add to that the fact the Wolverines had their chance and lost in Columbus.

The Rose Bowl should be entertaining with USC against Michigan.

As an aside, Iowa will be crushed, killed, slaughtered, etc., by Texas in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 30.

I love Christmas

By the way, Martha Stewart apparently does live here. Erin did a great job with all the trimmings, as usual. I did, however, set up the sports tree.

A beuatiful, even if fake because of my allegeries, tree

Love the Santas.

And the sports tree. At some point, we had too many sports ornaments to let them be on the real tree. Either that or Erin hated them (especially the six-pack ornament). Favorites, anything Hawkeyes and the chilli pepper lights.
