With all the excitement of the winter season (wake me up when the sun breaks through the clouds) I have failed to post in awhile.
***
I am starting to get excited about the NCAA Tournaments. Although the Hawkeyes aren't likely to make either the men's or women's draw, I will still spend days in front of the TV taking in all the basketball. And, I am going to first-round action of the chicks tournament in East Lansing.
***
My neice Bella has taken her first steps without the aid of walker. A huge breakthrough with all she has been through.
***
My neice Grace will be appearing the The Wiz. Apparently because of her stature (she is only 5, so about 2 feet tall) she will be playing munchkin. Given her star power I am surprised she isn't Dorothy. Wish I could be there.

sparty party
At the risk of posting too much sports stuff, how about Michigan State beating No. 1 Wisconsin?
Drew Neitzel was awesome. I don't think the Spartans are going back to the Final Four or anything but they exposed the Badgers as the fraud they are.

Amazing race

I watch about 10 minutes of NASCAR a year and it's the end of the Daytona 500. Poor Mark Martin. He was leading for most of the final 50 or so laps. Then in the final stretch he gets passed by Kevin Harvick like he is standing still. Martin has 55 runner-up finishes so he knows how to be a gracious loser - he has lots of practice.
So there's my NASCAR post for the year. Check back next February for your next update on race car driving.

old and new
I was a reporter the other night. The San Antonio paper's NBA writer got stuck in New Jersey so I had to go cover the Spurs-Pistons' game. It was cool but totally stressed me out. I haven't covered anything in like two years. I think the articles came out just fine. But I don't think it was worth stress. I guess I might be a manager forever.
***
On a seperate note, my brother bought me a webcam for my birthday so that I can talk to and see him in Poland. It is pretty cool. Without really tryng, he is making me Web savy. I can use skype and the webcam. I rule.
***
Lastly, I am finally feeling better after being completely wiped out by bronchitis earlier this week. Being sick always makes me appreciate my good health a little more. Being able to breathe rocks.

Sick, sick, sick
And on top of the 5-9 inches of snow we are supposed to get, I am sick again. Bronchitis this time.
Thanks to all the people at work who have come in despite having hacking coughs.
I have steroids and antibiotics and am on the mend.
Have I mentioned I hate winter?

Winter is boring
I talked to my Grandma on the phone yesterday. I had nothing to report. You know why? Because winter is boring. When it is cold, FREEZING to be exact, no one goes outside. So there is nothing to report.
But here is picture of Grandma (and me).

A girl after my own heart, witness the mostly-empty Bloody Mary.

good for him
Colts coach Tony Dungy seems like standup guy. His faith got him through what had to be the worst days of his life last season, after his son comitted suicide. His team regrouped after a disappointing loss to Pittsburgh in the 2006 playoffs and went all the way Sunday night in the Super Bowl.
I can't help but be happy from Peyton, too. Manning lived his dad's shadow for the first through years of his career. Then, he had to deal with the label of never winning the big one. Now he has.
On a side note, my nephew, 9-year-old Patrick Maxwell, who lives in suburban Chicgao, is probably crying in his Cheerios this morning. Hey Pat, that's why there's always next year.
