A contact high

Since Erin is working this week, I had a little extra time on my days off.

After seeing a write up in the Hartford Courant I decided to head over to New York and the site where Woodstock was held all those years ago. Now I was nine months old when more than 450,000 gathered at a farm in upstate New York to see some live music, talk about peace and do a lot of drugs. I still wish I would have been there. The museum is pretty cool. It takes you back to another time -- before cell phones and the internet and video games -- where kids would just sit around and listen to music.

My only complaint? When you get to the gift shop and want to buy a cool Woodstock T-shirt there are only Museum at Bethelwoods shirts. Lame.

Still, If you ever have a couple of hours to kill in upstate New York -- it's worth a look.

How bout our Iowa girl?

Shawn Johnson -- born in Des Moines -- won three silvers and gold in Beijing in gymnastics. Probably should have done a little better. Nonetheless, we are very proud to call her an Iowan. GO HAWKEYE STATE!

fun with the family

We had a great time in Iowa. Went to Meg's reunion, saw lots of old friends, got to hang out with the Maxwells, Needhams and Mom and Dad. Thanks to all for making it a great time.

Here are some photos:
