california dreaming

We just got back from a week in California. Had a great time seeing old friends. Loved the weather, hated the traffic. Posted a few photos on facebook, this is a bigger album.

Awesome time.

tigers killin me

The post-All-Star break swoon has begun. They can't hit, they can't pitch. Generally, they suck.

I am on vacation in seven hours. I don't care. They better turn this around.

usa! usa!

The U.S. women's soccer team will play for the World Cup title on Sunday for the first time since 1999. Hard to believe it's been that long since the above photo made Brandi Chastain famous. Let's hope this group of women can do as well as the 1999 team and bring home a championship against Japan.

planning a trip

Is hard work. Why are hotels in San Diego so pricey? Just saying.

charlotte

I really thought Charlotte was a beautiful city. I did have a little trouble breathing with the humidity but it had good restaurants, shopping, a nice downtown and the people were pretty friendly.

That's the great thing about conferences, they get you out to places you might not go on your own. Erin and I have been to almost every major city in the States but had not visited the Carolinas for some reason. I would go back.

The photo is from the botanical gardens. Erin's new camera got some pretty amazing shoots.

kids today

I spent last weekend at a conference and did some recruiting for the World Wide Leader. Good to see so many motivated recent college graduates out there. The scary part is they have so much more education than we do. Every resume I collected included a Master's degree. Most of them said they went back only because they couldn't find a job.

The market is tough right now, and who knows if I will be able to help any of them. Still, good to see so much enthusiasm. I would say the journalism world is in good hands.

P.S. I have been horrible about getting up posts lately. It is summer, which means I am busy. Between working out, mowing the lawn and going on vacation I have been lax at best. Sorry.
