tigers suspended
Game 1 against the Yankees has been suspended -- meaning Justin Verlander will pitch only once in the series. Not good. Bad feeling about this series, even though the teams are pretty evenly matched.

All the right moves

The Tigers won their first AL Central title last week in large part thanks to GM Dave Dombrowski. He made all the right moves at the trade deadline -- picking up Doug Fister, Wilson Betemit and Delmon Young.
Ace Justin Verlander has a good chance to win his 25th game this weekend and win the AL MVP.
After 2009, this season has been a joy.
Cheers to the Tigers and keeping things going in the postseason.

You ever had that day where just about anything can make you burst into tears. I hate that.

romo

Went out last night to watch Sunday Night Football with the girls. Admittedly, I did not expect much with the Cowboys playing the highly touted Jets. But through three quarters, the Cowboys not only looked good, they were up by two touchdowns.
Then Tony Romo hit. The Cowboys quarterback had two huge turnovers in the fourth quarter including an interception that led to the Jets winning field goal.
I have never been a Romo fan. My problem is that in big situations, he shrinks. This happened again last night.
Romo is 39-23 in the regular season -- 1-3 in the playoffs. Yes, he is a good fantasy quarterback, but he is not a good clutch quarterback.
And he will never be Roger Staubach or Troy Aikman.

Football and Broadway
Hawkeyes vs. Cyclones at noon Saturday, then work.
Wicked on Sunday, then the NFL. Going out to watch Cowboys vs. Jets, which may keep me from kicking things.
Fun, fun, fun.
P.S. Tigers lead in the AL Central is 9. Playoff bound.

Football season
The Hawkeyes won their opener against Tennessee Tech, but the game was more like a scrimmage. Two mismatched teams playing in the pouring rain is not great football.
This week we play Iowa State. Not sure if I have shared this but I am not a fan of the Cyclones. I do not want to lose this game. DO NOT.
I will not trash talk, I will only say that it is my ardent hope that Iowa wins the football contest on Saturday.
GO HAWKS!
